Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal called the West Island. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short duration. Brugel grew in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. However, a growth rate increased her height and she outgrew every dance partner she was able to have. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I surpassed my male counterparts, I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the instance of Brugel,, it was a suggestion from her teacher in drama. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. Following a trial, she ended up as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. It led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens drawing the most interest when she was offered the part as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was only seen on a few moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian member.
